As we approach the final weeks of 2024 and welcome 2025, our newsletter brings you a curated selection of events, news, and heartwarming stories from our plant-based community. While the holiday calendar may be lighter due to the season, I am excited to share several festive gatherings and dining experiences across the DFW metroplex that celebrate conscious living.

The spotlight this week shines on an inspiring collection of celebrity vegan journeys, groundbreaking developments in plant-based alternatives, and cherished family traditions that demonstrate how our community continues to grow and evolve.

Events for the upcoming weeks (from 12/19/24 to 1/16/25)

  • On Friday December 20th, Friday, TLC Cafe will be hosting a Holiday Dinner at 5:15PM & 815PM in Richardson. For ticket, menu and other details, visit here.

  • On Saturday, January the 4th, the Veggie Outers will celebrate their 9th anniversary at Sankofa Kitchen in Dallas from 6-9pm. Details of the meetup can be found here.

  • Beans and Legumes are back in the limelight. US Dietary Advisory Committee released guidance that protein section should start with beans, peas and lentils. “What we’re recommending is that the protein section of MyPlate, the government’s food guide on how to eat a healthy diet, start with beans, peas and lentils,” said committee member Dr. Christopher Gardner, a research professor of medicine at the Stanford Prevention Research Center in California

  1. We have 3 people in our family that are vegan. One of our favorite tradition is to gather to make homemade cranberry-orange bread together using flax eggs and plant milk. By Ruby R.

  2. I make plant-based mashed potatoes with roasted garlic and olive oil instead of dairy, or stuffing made with vegetable broth and mushrooms for my family on Christmas eve. By Ava S.
