🍿 Movies, Meetups & Mason Jars: This Week in Vegan DFW

Plus, we're dishing out the latest plant-based news, including some ballpark treats and important product recalls. Events for the upcoming week

  • On Saturday August 17th from 6:15-9:15pm, the Veggie Outers will go to see the Deadpool and Wolverine at Alamo Drafthouse - Lake Highlands. You can find the details here.

  • On Saturday August 17th, SeaQuest Fort Worth will be hosting a protest from 1-2pm demanding retiring their animals and close their doors for good. Details can be found here.

  • On Saturday August 17th, Frisco Petland Puppymill Protest will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM CDT at 2930 Preston Rd unit 810, Frisco TX. Details can be found here.

  • On Sunday August 18th at 4pm, Plant Based Dallas will be hosting a book club and potluck. For details on the event, join the group here.

  • Swirled Peace is having weekly Wednesday evening karaoke from 7-10pm. Details can be found here.

  • On Tuesday August 20th, at 5:45 pm, the film Christspiracy will be screened at University of North Texas, Denton. The movie examine the role of faith in the killing of an animal for food and also exposes other unforgiving truths about animal cruelty in the name of religion. You can find the details here.

  • On Thursday August 22nd, TLC Vegan Cafe will be hosting a a six-course Chef Tasting menu benefiting the Texas Italian Greyhound Rescue. Tickets can be purchased here.

Plant based news

  • Globe life field in our own backyard is one of the most vegan friendly ballpark in the country. Menu includes meat free burgers, hot dogs, nuggets and PLT (portobello, lettuce and tomato) Sandwich. They even have vegan desert stand serving Oatly ice cream. Here is a list of all ball parks that have vegan friendly food.

  • I covered the plant based milk recall a couple of weeks ago but putting this out again as a third person has died because of contaminated plant based milk. Silk and Great Value are the brands you want to avoid currently.

  • Plastics come from petro-chemical products and is harmful for the environment. Scientists are hard at work to find alternatives that are less harmful and as convenient. Plant based plastics are one such solution and the demand for these is growing.

  • Vegan Chicken brand “Shiken” coming to a Costco near you? They are launching in stores across 23 states, lets hope we get these here in DFW area stores.
