Welcome back, readers! Valentine’s Day is around the corner and while the U.S. celebrates Valentine’s Day as a day exclusively for romantic relationships—though we are seeing Galentine’s Day being even more popular in the last few years—it’s heartwarming to remember that in other cultures, like in our neighboring country of Mexico, they call it Día de Amor y Amistad ("Day of Love and Friendship”). You can wish this happy day to all loved ones, including parents and siblings! So whether you are celebrating as a couple, solo, or with friends, Valentine’s Day is for love of all kinds.

With that said, let’s look at some upcoming Valentine’s Day events that were mentioned in last week’s newsletter with the pretty little calendars, sprinkled in with some local updates.

Valentine’s Day Events

  • TLC Vegan Cafe in Richardson is hosting an Early Vegan Valentine dinner on Thursday, February 13th as their Friday dinner is fully sold out! RSVP here.

  • Moonlight Dining & Chef Frank (who is also known for his amazing weekend sandwiches at Everyday Works coffee shop) is hosting a 6-course Valentine’s Day dinner at Everyday Works (what a coincidence!) in Oak Cliff. RSVP here.

  • Solistic Studio is having a Lover’s Move: A Heart Healthy Exercise & Wellness event at TRU Plant-Based Kitchen in Carrollton. RSVP here.

Vegan Social Groups 🍻

  • DFW Veggie Lovers Facebook group is hosting their monthly meetup at Yard House Friday, February 21st. RSVP here on Facebook or via their email (reply to this email for their address).

  • Green & Fit Frisco Facebook group is hosting their Brain Health Potluck Sunday, February 23rd. RSVP here on Google Docs.

Recurring Vegan Pop-Ups 🍽️

  • Chopping Roots is returning early to the Frisco Farmers Market due to popular demand! She will be back Saturday, February 15th.

  • Chef Daddy’s Plant Pleasures is updating their pop-up schedule to be at Charlie’s Star Lounge in Deep Ellum every first and third Saturday and second and fourth Friday! Go check them out! Charlie’s Star Lounge hosts karaoke every Friday, so plan ahead if you want to both sing and get some delish vegan food.

  • Chef Frank at Everyday Works in Oak Cliff every Saturday and Sunday between 10-2 PM

  • It’s Food inside Hao’s Grocery Cafe in Fort Worth Tuesday through Saturday, but be sure to check their Instagram as their hours are in flux.

  • Happy Vegan Food Truck is still frequenting Truck Yard this month along with other DFW locations. Be sure to check their calendar.

  • Beyond the Bun at Antique Gallery Lewisville looks to be now operating Wednesday through Sunday for us corporate desk jockeys who can’t step away on a weekday.

Sanctuary Auctions 🐷🐄🐔💚

My Pig Filled Life and 2nd Annual Sweetheart Auction for Cloven Heart Farm Sanctuary auctions are still going strong. Both auctions will close February 14th, so be sure to check them out before it’s too late and help out the animals in the month of love!

Vegan Activism

For vegans who are interested in activism, feel free to visit Animal Connection of Texas (ACT) as they have various campaigns/protests scheduled throughout the month. Here are upcoming events organized by the community for the first half of the month.

  • Saturday February 15, 12:30-2:30 PM: Omni Dallas Foie Gras Protest

Do you know about Sweet Nibbles Bakery? They’re all allergen/vegan-friendly bakery pop-up that you’ll find at both the Coppell Farmers Market and Grapevine’s Market on Main. Check out their site here. But be sure to check their Instagram or Facebook for updates in case of weather.
